In this deep dive session, you will learn all the terms and definitions you may hear in your birth space and at prenatal appointments. This is a great education session to support you as you build out your birth preferences. You’ll learn what a Bishop score is and how it can help you navigate a provider’s push for an induction. Find out what exactly dilation, effacement and station is and how you can understand your labor progression as well as optimal fetal positioning. Hear about your hormones are working together and how you can support the flow. Learn medical terms for interventions and procedures that may be offered, all about epidurals, and procedures that may be used to induce or augment labor. We’ll also give you some tips for advocating for yourself during birth.
Birth Terms & Definitions

This session walks you through the physiological process of giving birth. Understanding the different stages of your birth allows you to be an active participant. You’ll learn signs that your body is warming up for labor and that labor could be imminent. You’ll hear how to time contractions and at what point to head to your place of birth. Find out what to do if your water breaks; what happens in early labor, active labor and transition; what happens in the birth of you baby and the placenta.
Stages & Phases of Birth
45 minutes 〰 Led by Molly Landolt and Misty Gant
This session focuses on the positions that will work with your body at various stages of labor. You will learn what happens physiologically during labor and how the pelvis works plus how to open the inlet and outlet. You’ll get suggestions for early labor movement and over 25 positions that will work with your body to help get your baby in the optimal position for birth. We’ll also give you epidural friendly positions (you don’t have to birth on your back!) and pushing positions (you don’t have to push on your back either!)
Positions for Progression

Created by two birth doulas, this session has all the tips and tricks for navigating birth’s intensity. You’ll learn what an oxytocic environment is and how to create one in your birth space. You’ll hear doula’s best tips for navigating pain relief and comfort techniques and breathing techniques for the different stages of labor. We’ll also give you tips for using body work and acupressure to support comfort during labor.
Non-Medical Comfort Techniques

In this focused session led by a certified birth doula, you’ll hear why a cesarean birth may be an option. You’ll be given tools for processing a change in birth plan and ways to to support your heart, mind and body for birth. Learn terms and definitions surrounding cesarean births, along with an overview of the birth procedure and options within the birth space. Hear ways you can advocate for a family-centered birth. To round out the session, you’ll hear how to support recovery post-cesarean and ways to support lactation and the feeding dyad post-cesarean.

Inductions & Supporting the Birth Process

Whether you have chosen to be induced or your doctor has brought up the possibility, understanding the options you have within that space is different than navigating a spontaneous birth. The induction process is a sped up version of spontaneous labor. But physiologically, the same things are happening. This session is all about how can you support your induction process.

In this focused session, Dr. Zen will walk you through all things gestational diabetes and how to navigate your pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey with a GD diagnosis. You’ll hear honest guidance from a naturopath who has experienced gestational diabetes first-hand.
